Who am I?

I am currently a student at the University of Cincinnati majoring in Information Technology, with a concentration on software and web development.

What can I do?

Cross-Browser Compatibility

While everyone might be looking at the same internet, that doesn't mean they are seeing it through the same lens. Through browser usage statistics, we see that people use different browsers and different versions of the same browser. Problems arise as these browsers generally do not interpret html and css in the same way. This can result in your webpage looking inconsistent when viewed from various browsers, or in the case of Internet Explorer 6, like a disaster. I have extensive experiece navigating these issues to code websites that look beautiful in all browsers.

WC3 Standards Compliant Web Pages

The World Wide Web Consortium, or W3C, is the main standards organization for the web. These standards provide guidelines for coding in web development. But why use them? It's usually much easier to get a website to display correctly in multiple browsers by using standards. But more importantly than that, standards improve the accessibility and usability of a website. Search engine crawlers will have an easier time reading and indexing the information on your website when it follows W3C standards. Standards are also essential for allowing those with disabilities to access your website.

Search Engine Friendly Websites

HTML Emails

HTML emails, used frequently in marketing campaigns, face many of the same compatibility issues as websites. Not only will users be viewing emails through various browsers, but they will be viewing them through a variety of clients within the browsers. Users can also use standalone clients such as Lotus Notes and Outlook. Many of these clients interpret html in very archaic and erratic ways, making it very difficult to program an email that will render correctly across all email clients. I have knowledge of which methods and practices practices that will allow html emails to display consistently in all clients.
